I am back with a shrimp fry this time..a complete Indian taste 🙂
Note: My 1 cup is 240 grams/ml, 1 tablespoon -15 grams/ml, 1 teaspoon-5 grams/ ml and 1 kg is 2.2 pounds.
Medium sized peeled, deveined shrimp – 40 to 50 in number
Chilli powder -2 tablespoons
turmeric powder – 1/2 teaspoon
Chopped Red Onion- 1 medium sized
Green Chilli – 2
Grated coconut – 2 tablespoons
Crushed fresh garlic – 2 tablespoons
Crushed fresh ginger – 2 tablespoons
Curry leaves – few (optional )
Distilled white vinegar – 1 teaspoon
Coconut oil/ Oil of your choice – enough to fry the shrimp , I used up half a cup
Salt- as required
1.Mix the shrimp with turmeric powder, salt and chilli powder in a pan and add half cup water. Simmer on low flame for few minutes till the shrimp is cooked.
2.While little bit of water still remains in the pan, add onion, green chilli, garlic, coconut, curry leaves and ginger. Saute till onion and coconut becomes soft.
3. Now add coconut oil ( or any oil of your choice ) and 1 teaspoon of distilled white vinegar and fry on medium heat till done.
