Paneer is delicious and easy to make at home. I found it difficult to get Paneer here because there is no Indian store nearby and decided to make it at home.
Note: My 1 cup is 240 grams/ml, 1 tablespoon -15 grams/ml, 1 teaspoon-5 grams/ ml and 1 kg is 2.2 pounds.
Whole Milk – 1 liter (1000 ml) , It is very important to use WHOLE milk
Lemon Juice – 2 tablespoons
1.Heat up milk in a heavy bottom pan and once you see bubbles forming and you think it is starting to boil, pour the lemon juice and keep stirring.
2.Keep stirring till the milk curdles completely and the greenish whey is separated from the white curdled milk. Remove from stove.
3.Drain the greenish whey off using a cotton/ cheese cloth and wash the curdled milk under running water to remove the sourness of lemon juice. Place the cloth over a colander.
4.Squeeze off water and flatten the curdled milk into a disc and place a heavy weight on it. Leave aside for 30 minutes.
5. Open up and slice into squares.
