#Post19 #Recipe17 Chicken puffs

I am back after a short break with Chicken puffs. I used to think that it is a tough job to make puffs at home, but it is very easy especially if you have the puff pastry sheets in hand. Here we go..

Note: My 1 cup is 240 grams/ml, 1 tablespoon -15 grams/ml, 1 teaspoon-5 grams/ ml and 1 kg  is 2.2 pounds.

Ingredients :
Puff Pastry Sheet – 2 ( I used Pepperidge farm Pastry sheets)
Egg (beaten) – 1 (for egg wash)
Onion – 2 medium, (chopped, small)
Ginger-Garlic Paste – 2 tsp
Green Chillies – 1 or 2 (chopped)
Cilantro/Coriander leaves – 2 tbsp (chopped)
Green Chillies – 1 or 2 (chopped)
Cooking Oil- 3 tablespoons ( I used coconut oil, you may use any cooking oil)

For Chicken Masala
Chicken Breast – 2 (chopped small)
Turmeric Powder – 1/4 tsp
Kashmiri Red Chilly Powder – 1 tsp (Use lesser quantity if you are using normal chili powder)
CorianderPowder – 1 tsp
Garam Masala – 1/2 tsp
Fennel Powder – 1 1/2 tsp
Ground Pepper – 1/4 tsp
Salt to taste

1.Keep the pastry sheets outside for thawing , if you are using frozen sheets. Follow the instructions on the packet. Mine took 45 minutes to thaw completely.

2. Pre-heat the oven to 400 degree Celsius. Lets prepare the filling while it gets heated up.

3. Heat 2 tablespoons of oil in a pan and add all the ingredients under the ‘For chicken masala’  title . Cook till done and dry. Cool it, shred it and keep it aside.

4. Heat 1 tablespoon of oil in the pan and saute onion with little salt for 2-3 minutes. Add chopped green chili and ginger garlic paste to it and keep stirring for another 2-3 minutes.

5. Add shredded chicken to this and keep cooking on low flame for 5 minutes. Garnish with chopped cilantro and switch off the flame.

6. Cut the pastry sheet into shape and size of your choice and keep a teaspoon of filling in it. Fold it and seal the sides using a fork.

7. Use a spoon or brush and give the puffs a good egg wash (beat egg with salt and use this mixture for the egg wash). Arrange them on a baking tray lined with parchment paper.

8. Bake in the preheated oven at 400 degree Celsius for 15 – 20 minutes.
